Houston Quilt Show 2008

Amy and I went to the Houston International Quilt show. There were some vendors we wanted to check out and then we took our time and walked around.
Amy got to talk with Eleanor Burns again this year. That was a highlight of the day for Amy. After seeing her she was ready to go home. Amy bought her new book and Eleanor signed it.
I love seeing all the quilts. They are just amazing.
This one was a BIG WINNER
photos of the quilts just don't do them justice..

Wednesday

Amy brought over a friend yesterday to look at some of my Christmas things that was left over from the garage sale. I made another $235.00 so now Tim had only 6 or 7 containers that went back up in the attic...I am close to a GRAND, how cool is that? for stuff that was sitting in my attic.lol

Tim and I went to vote yesterday. We have "early voting" here in Texas. I don't remember ever having that back home in Pittsburgh. But it is sure nice to know I was able to cast my vote. Please everyone get out and vote.

I have the boys today.

Garage Sale OVER!!

WHEW!!!! Alot of hard work going into having a garage sale. My back is hurting.
But good new Most of my things sold. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Tim doesn't have to put much back at all. The only reason I am keeping what is left is because Timmi wants to have a garage sale soon too. I just thought I would put what is left in hers. If it sells great. If not, OUT IT GOES. 2 days of standing on my feet all day on cement & lifting boxes took a tool on my feet and back. OUCH
Almost $700. was made and most everything was priced $3.00 and under. LOL. That can tell you How much Christmas Stuff I had. Today I will try to pack up the rest of it and our trucks can go back in the garage.
Yesterday was Dylan Austin's first soccer game of the season. This season was cut short because of Hurricane IKE. My son in law Dylan is coaching the team this year.

Yesterday I had the Timmi and Amy's friends come over and some neighbors to check out the garage sale. Well I guess you could say it was a hit. LOL

I hope I do as well today. Tim doesn't want to put anything back. I told him whatever don't sell I will have another garage sale next year. lol
Here are some of my snowmen, this was taken AFTER the girls friends were down too. LOL

GARAGE SALE

I don't mind going to garage sales but I don't enjoy having one. I had one about 10 years ago or so and it was a pain. lol. But I have so much Christmas stuff I need to clean out my attic. I have over 50 containers of red, green and gold. I stopped counting after 50. And I probably have over 25 wreaths that I hand on ever door inside and out . I also hang wreaths on the outside windows. Everything is going in the garage sale. Timmi is coming over to help me tomorrow.

I will still have my white and gold Christmas decorations that I love. I haven't used this color theme in about 3 years. This also includes all my villages , which is a mess to make and clean up EVERYTHING IS GOING, GOING, GONE!!! Well I hope so. lol/ This can go either way. Maybe people want to get Christmas decorations really CHEAP because of the hurricane OR Christmas is the last thing on their mind. But in the spring before the hurricane ever came I decided to have this sale. Some of Timmi and Amy's friends are stopping over today for a preview.

Here are some of the containers
some of the wreaths in bags

Quilts Quilts Quilts

Between helping Amy and watching the boys I manage to find time to sew up a few quilts. These are very fast to make truly a weekend quilt. Timmi's school is have a Christmas store and I made these. I would much rather sew and quilt than clean house. (wink)

I also made a few of these. Kleenex box covers.

SURPRISE!!!!

Don't you just love surprises.?
I get the giggles when I pick up my mail and find something special for me. It is like Christmas. And if anyone knows me they know I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!
Over the weekend I received a package from a special friend, Arlene. She sent me this adorable pincushion that she made and some beautiful fat quarters. WOW!!!! She sent them for no reason "JUST BECAUSE". Thank you Arlene for being so thoughtful. I am blessed to have a friend like you.
There are faces on the little kids.. How cute is that? I will find a place of honor on my shelf for this special pincushion.

Friday

It is the weekend already. WOW!!! I get to have the boys over night tonight. I enjoy having them here. They just grow up so fast. They sure do wear me out BUT I hope they always enjoy staying with Grandma and Pappy. Most of the time they never want to go home.
Harley was 2 this week and I did his foot print. On the boys birthday day I started having a copy of their footprints around my door frame. When Dylan turns 4 next month I will add his. Most people do handprints I wanted to be different. I wonder how long they will let grandma do this?
I also finished Amy's quilt the pink and grey one.
