Purse

Timmi posing with her new crocheted purse. Off to teach school. I don't remember school teachers dressing like that in my day. lol How things change.

Still More

I have been putting up more shoe bags for all the little things you need for sewing, quilting and /or crafts. Since I have two closet doors it takes up alot of wall space. I need to make use of the doors. One has things more for sewing the other has items for quilting I love anything that will give me easy access. I still have a few things left on the dinning room table. I am making progress.

I also finished a new crocheted purse/bag . can you guess who claimed it?lol

More Organizing

I am still putting things away. Organizing. I will probably redo alot of it when I find I don't like where this is or that. Time will tell but my dinning room table is still full . Alot more needs to be put away. here is what I did so far.
Inside the closet I have this for my Fat Quarters. I just have to refold them. I used a different type of hanging shoe bag.

Inside of the closets door. Alot of sewing items; bias tape, elastic, cording.

The shelf Timmi made me in high school; I have it in one corner.

The other corner of the room is my basket of more Fat Quarters. Remember that hook in the ceiling holds my upside Christmas tree. I had to find a use for it.

Question

I have a question. "WHY DON'T EVERYONE FOLD FAT QUARTERS THE SAME WAY?" Wouldn't it be nice to have the "right way" to fold them
Some are in 4's nicely folded squares, some are in thirds, some are rolled and some are even folded in triangles. Now how am I going to neatly store my Fat Quarters in the closet? hmmm something to think about..lol. Do I refold them or is that being OCD?

Organizing

You would think coming from a closet to a room I would have LOTS more room. never enough room. Even yesterday We were talking about knocking down one wall. That really was a joke.
Tim did put in an extra shelf for me good thing...

Both shelves are full of fabric and I still have more to put in.
Since I crochet as well ,I needed a place for my thread and yarn. Hanging shoe bags works well for me . I can see what I have instead being in a box or plastic container pushed in the back of the closet

These hang on the rod and you can have easy access to both side.
inside the closet I have fabric that are for special projects such as children's, Christmas. In the center of the closet I have craft items. The threads hangs nicely behind the craft containers.

More to do today. Hopefully next week I can actually begin to sew.
Tim went to Lowe's and got the wood to make my sewing table. That project will begin this weekend. I must ask" Are we ever done with projects" ?We haven't even finished our "Honey Do List"

Fresh Coat of Paint

Yes, I am making progress in the sewing room. It still amazes me what a fresh coat of paint will do for a room. I like to paint and I am messy, but I do a good job. Getting older and going up and down the ladder is another subject.
So far we and I said we, cause Tim helped paint the room. I chose this light blue for the walls, in fact it is called Baby Blue Booties; isn't that the cutest name. The ceiling and closet are Navajo White, which is most of our house. And of course High Gloss White trim. I am so happy we decided to tile the floor last year.

Looking at the pictures I notice the light pulls need changed.. LOL They are still sports from Dylan Austin's. Must put that on my list when I go shopping tomorrow.
Today I will start putting my sewing things in the room. I want to be organized. Starting from scratch makes it alot easier. (I hope)
I have decided Tim will make me my sewing table. I just couldn't see spend that much money for a Horn or Koala sewing table. Most of these close up when not sewing and I will probably not need that since the reason for my sewing room is to have easy access to my machine I want them out all the time. I did like the looks of the Horn Project Center. And Tim will use that as a model. Also I want it to be 8 feet long, which I haven't seen a sewing table that long. Here is a link for Koala Cabinets http://www.sewingmachineoutlet.com/workstation.htm.

Making Progress

I am making progress in the room. The border is off, not just one wall but all 4 walls. YEAAAAAA That little steamer works well for peeling off border. Now I will empty the closet and Tim will make another shelf, and paint the closet. That will be done this weekend.
I still don't know if I want one of those hydraulic systems for my sewing table/desk. Does any one have one and do they really like it and/or use it? Should I have Tim cut a hole in the desk to make my machine even with the table? Decisions, decisions, What to do.?
Who watched American Idol last night? I liked both David's, I am not surprised that David Cook won. Both were great. Talking about television; has anyone received those $40. gift cards for those television converters. Tim and I got a RCA from *Walmart* it seems to work pretty good.

Borders Coming Down

Yesterday I worked a little on getting the border off the walls. I have this little steamer and it is working but boy is it messy. Today I will get back at it again. I am hopping to get at least one wall done today. Steaming and scrapping more work than I thought.

I finished the last bag for Timmi.

My thought on the sewing rom was maybe getting some base kitchen cabinets and a counter top to make a desk. I am not sure so any imput would help. I was actually thinking of a"L" shape table. I would be able to set all my machine up. But then I may change my mind 20 times. Some times your first thoughts are the best.

Success

I am pleased to announce that Dylan Austin has approved his new room here at Grandma's/ lol He was so funny yesterday when they stopped over. I had the bedroom doors closed cause I really didn't want him to see his old room a mess. He opened the door and exclaimed rather loudly "Grandma what happened to my bed". I told him that I had a prize for him and of course he wanted to see. I took him into the other bedroom where he saw some of his toys and things. He seems to be some what pleased but questioned everything "Why this, why that" . lol My little man is growing up so fast. I explained once I moved my sewing machine into the room he would have more space for his toys. Harley, loved the idea of being able to have easy access to his toys as well. When it was time for nap I asked them where they wanted to sleep in Grandma's bed (which they have been sleeping) or their NEW BED. The new bed won .
When Dylan woke up he came out very quietly and didn't wake up Harley.
Nothing is more precious than watchiing them sleep.

after nap
I am almost finished with the plastic bags I am half done with the last bag but I ran out of bags. Off to the store .

Is Your Work Ever Done

When you own a home is your work ever done. it seems we always have a project to do. My youngest daughter always asks what are you doing now? Will we ever really be able to just sit back and do nothing. As we were getting ready to retire for the night I asked my hubby where was the "TO DO LIST". I wanted to check things off. He said he threw it away. There is always something on the list. It will never be finished. Even if it is just little things there is always something. I am a" list person" I like to see things checked off and completed. Funny how the mind works, when I see the check mark or the item crossed off I know it is finished. Tim thought we were seeing the end of the list til I started the idea of getting my sewing room. Now we have talked about him building more shelves in the closets, maybe even a new sewing table/desk. I am not even talking about painting and decorating the room. Before painting we have to take the border off the walls. Now you know that is going to be messy. There is always something to do. Say good bye to the border.

Another style of plastic recycled bags. This is from *Walmart*

Their bags are thin and don't give much of a design when crocheted. It is mostly white, not much black printing is on the bags. A black ribbon is added.

As for the recycled bags I am making for the teachers I have one more to do. I am seeing the end to my list.

These are the round bags. One has shorter handles. I like using "Target" bags. They are much stronger and they give a nice red and white design when crocheted.

Sunday

Between trying to get the boys room done for them and crocheting these plastics bags I have been busy. I torn apart my quest bedroom and packed away the pretty bedspread, pillows and took down some pictures I had on the wall . Put the kids things in there. I don't want the boys to feel I am taking things away from them. Dylan has had his own room here at Grandma's since birth. He has even asked questions about "HIS" room when we were tiling the floor last year. He has never had to share a room but lately he has been asking to take his nap with his brother Harley. That is what started me on thinking on getting my own sewing room. So far this is how their room will look. "Car" quilt at the bottom of the bed. Stuffed animals on the bed. Thomas the train toys on the window seat.

I have 4 more bags to make for the teachers at school where Timmi subs . One is finished, one is almost done and I am running out of bags, need more. I have til Thursday to get them done.

Hubby is still working on his "Honey Do List". yesterday he worked in the yard and put a coat of weather proof on the wooden swing set. his list is shrinking , but then I just added put up extra shelves in the closet for my fabric. Now how long would that take.hahahaha

Soccer

Today was Dylan Austin's last soccer game of the season. What a difference from the first game.
He is in a group ages 3 to 5. He is one of the youngest. It was great fun watching these little kids play. In the beginning Dylan would watch the ball go past him. He would run after the ball but wouldn't get in the crowd to kick it. But this game he kicked the ball 3 times. They also rotate the positions , for about 10 minutes he played goalie. He saved the ball once. Yeaaaaaa !!! Dylan, great game.

Dylan kicked and played goalie

Pincushion

I made these pincushion for a swap I was in. they were easy and fun to make. We were to make anything to do with a flower. The white rose is the pincushion and the bud is used for needles.
The little flower is on a golf tee to be kept with your thread, the center is stuff for your pins and needle. Last but not least was a small container I covered with floral material, in fact it was one of my favorite fabrics. I am really getting into recycling... This container was a small vegetable can. The pins I made just for decorations to make it look pretty.
My mind also is working on what can I do for my sewing room. Last night I was thinking of a "L" shaped table. I have many options since I will be starting from scratch. I am sure I will change my mind a million times. I want to make the most of the space. If any one has something in their sewing room or closet that they can't live without could you please share it with me. I can always use ideas and hints.

My Lttle Angels

I was watching my grand sons today. I am trying to get the younger one Harley who is 19months old used to sleeping in a "big boys bed". When it was time for nap I told them both Dylan and Harley could both sleep in my bed. Dylan Austin is 3.5 he helped Harley up into the bed and sang him a song to settle him down. Belong long Harley was out. Dylan was still petting his head.

After awhile Dylan fell asleep too but still had his hand on Harley.

They had a good nap 2.5 hours They must like Grandma's bed. hahaha!

Sewing Quarters

I don't have a sewing room I have a sewing closet.lol. I am cramped in there so most of the time I have my better machine on the dinning room table.
I have a bedroom that I want to turn into a sewing room and soon I will be able to do just that.
At the moment my grandson loves having his own room here at grandma's. Dylan Austin said he will share a room with Harley.
here are a few pictures of my sewing closet.

You can see I am jammed in there. Not much room for spreading out your project.
I have always dreamed of a sewing room Hopefully soon my dream will true. I really have to think of how I will set my new room up. What color should I paint blue? yellow? I do want something light and cheery. off to the store for some color samples.

Quick Quilts

Here are a few more quilts I have made. These were a very simple pattern, measured 58X68. The Pattern was called "Illusion" from McCalls Quick Quilts May 2007

These quilts were made for my hair dressers. They are sisters. Judy's is pink and Marina's is purple. I have been going to them for over 15 years.

These I made for my Doctor and his assistant. He received the blue one, his assistant has the purple. I have been going to him for over 20 years.

All these quilts were a surprise
