Swiffer, Duster

http://alicethekamel.blogspot.com/search?q=swiffer+shrug

I found this pattern on the Internet and I thought it would be great for me since we have our big beautiful Labrador and tile floors. I do use my swiffer alot. Now with the crocheted pad, I am saving money too. It grabs up all the hair and dust bunnies, toss it in the washer and I am ready to go again. On the handle is a duster for pictures, door ways, anything high that I normally can't reach, even ceiling fans.

It is so easy even a baby can do it.
Harley is my little helper. He loves to clean

Boys playing with Thomas the Train

When I know I am having the boys alot for the week, we get out the little platform with the trains. Tim put a big piece of wood down on the treadle from the day bed and glued the track down. We set it up in the living room and the boys can walk around and play all day. Dylan Austin is getting good at working the trains. He knows how to switch the tracks and make them stop without cause them to "crash". lol . Dylan is trying to teach Harley. When they are finished playing for the week we slide it under the day bed until next time. Of course they want it out alot. I remember the first time Dylan found it under his bed. How excited he was and "Pappy" had to get it out for him to play.

This one is called "One Block Star"from Fons & Porter Easy Quilts Spring 2008. This is for their livingroom, it measures 60X72

I received a phone call that their package arrived and they love them. I am sure they will be used alot in the winters up north.

Dish Cloths

Here are a few dish cloths I crocheted. These little things are a breeze to make. And I do like that they are sturdy. Can you tell my kitchen is green? These are great projects to use up left over yarn. You crochet a chain the desired length you want.
I crocheted 30 and in the 3rd chain from hook and in every chain, I did a half double crochet, chain 2 and turn
Row 2 half double crochet in every stitch across.
Continue rows to desire length. I did 26 rows
You can put any edging you want . I did 2 row of single crochet all around on 2 and did a picot on 2. These wash up very nice as well.
Yesterday morning it was raining and right after the rain I was having a cup of tea and this little squirrel came in our front yard.
I watched for awhile as he or she was trying to find food. My grandson, Dylan Austin says they are looking for nuts. It was fun watching from a distance.

Embroidery

I am sure everyone has something they love to wear. A comfy pair of shoes or jeans, an old stretched out sweat shirt, an over sized shirt. It is something that is just too hard to throw away, almost like an old friend. I have had this shirt for many many years. One of my daughters gave it to me. One day while wearing my ole faithful shirt I got it caught on something without realizing it tore. I put it in the washer, dryer, and on a hanger it went, back in my closet. Each time I reached for it I remembered it was torn. I couldn't wear it the way it was, the rip was a big "L" shape. If I tried to mend it it would be very noticeable no matter what I did. To throw it away was not an option. lol Finally it hit me duhhhh!!!!! embroider a design. Being new to machine embroidery I was a bit nervous. I didn't want to ruin my shirt. I had to laugh "ruin it" I can't wear it the way it was. I looked thru some designs on my machine, Flipping back and forth, which one, what kind of stabilizer, what color thread. Hummmm maybe this is for another day. I went into the kitchen made myself a cup of tea and decided NO, today is the day. just do it!
I needed a design that was large and it had to be dense to cover the hole . I stitched up the hole by hand and of course the threads showed., just to make it lay flat. I picked tear away stabilizer, I decided not to change the colors they recommended , hooped it and away I went. The bear sitting on a barrel was good and dense.
The design just made the length and width of the tear, I didn't want anything too big. The base violin covered the length with the bear and the barrel covered the width. I wonder how many more years can I wear my shirt.

Samy Ray

Samy is our yellow lab, he was a present for Mother's Day 10 years ago. When we brought him home he was only 7 weeks old. He naturally has become apart of our family. Since I had all daughters I wanted a male dog. Samy was my little boy, my baby. hahaha. Look at him now! You can see he grew up fast and became my BIG BOY, all 125 pounds. Samy needs alot of room. We were told labradors were good with children. here is living proof.

Both boys, Dylan Austin and Harley climb up on Samy to watch a video or use him to climb on the sofa. Samy is very gentle with them when they are on him. These are some recent pictures and a movie of Samy with the boys. It still makes me laugh when I hear Dylan Austin telling Samy to "back up" cause he is so big, Dylan can't get around him. Harley just puts his little hand up and pushes. Kids and Pets always steal the show and put a smile on your face. Don't you just love them? Watch the little movie of Harley climbing on Samy.

Crocheted Bags

This bag was made from Lowe's bags which are much lighter

These bags were made from Target bags

I am always looking for something to make. Lately I have been crocheting these bags. Here is the website I found and used for this pattern. It is very easy. http://www.marloscrochetcorner.com/Plastic%20Bag%20tote.html

I can sit down in the evenings with my husband and crochet. There isn't much counting here. My grandson, Dylan Austin who is 3 says "grandma, why are your fingers all in knots?"

This is a round bag made from Target bags
My daughter Timmi seems to like this bag better, it has longer handles and has more room.
Everyone is talking about going"Green" Now I can start doing my part and recycle, I can use these bags when I shop.

Soccer Shirts

My Grandson started playing soccer, so I made everyone matching shirts to show our spirt and support. He is playing soccer for the first time. Dylan Austin is sitting in the chair, my husband is on the left and I am on the right. My daughter Timmi holding Harley and her husband Dylan. A dear friend in Germany helped me alot thru emails creating these shirts. Thanks Liz, I couldn't have done it without you.
