Diaper Caddy

Timmi asked me if I would make her a diaper caddy. Since Harley is growing up so fast she really doesn't need to carry a big diaper bag any more. Harley is in the process of being potty trained. But when she goes out she still puts a diaper on him. She just wanted something small she could throw in her purse or just keep in the car.
This will hold 3 disposal diapers , a disposal changing pad and a case of whips. I am sure she could even fit in a small plastic bag.

The first one I made wasn't tall enough, the diapers were getting smashed. But maybe she can use it for something else.

AND THE WINNER IS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for taking the time to enter my Giveaway. Keep checking back to my blog , I will have more. You just never know when. I had Tim pick the winning name this morning.
And the Winner of the Giveaway Is ............MIET from Belgium.
Congratulations it will be in the mail Monday.

Top Quilted

I finished quilting the top. I did stippling all throughout, including the borders. It is a fast way to finish a top. To me the top always looks better when quilting. The stippling seems to bring it all together. I have the binding sewn on and back clipped; I will be hand sewing all day. Maybe I will be able to add this to my January finished projects. the quilting didn't show up good in the picture. At least I didn't cross over the lines.

New Quilt

I cut this out a few months ago and thought I need to finish sewing it together. Today I finished 6 rows. This is a new pattern for me and I used reproduction 30's fabric.
So far I am liking it alot. Alot of piecing. The pattern was on the cover of American Patchwork & Quilting April 2008. I also joined in a few blogs to finished "Works in Progress."(WIP). I don't think I will be able to finish the whole quilt by the end of January but I will give it a shot. At least the top will be sewn.

Don't forget my pincushion caddy GIVEAWAY. Leave a comment here or send me an email (only1949@yahoo.com). I will pick a name Friday January 30.

My Boys

Tim and I kept the boys over Friday night. Saturday morning I saw Harley cuddling up with Tim. Harley isn't the one that cuddles. That is usually Dylan. When i spotted them laying on the floor together I had to grab my camera.
Dylan and Harley were playing dinosaurs on the floor and asked Pappy if he would play. Tim got on the floor with some pillows( he wasn't feeling well, coming down with a cold)
after a few minutes of playing Harley laid down.

Once Harley seen I was taking pictures he got up.

Of course Dylan loves the camera. hahaha

Don't forget about my Giveaway, Friday January 30th.

Boys Totes

I finished the boys totes today. I think they will like themwith the colorful straps. I noticed I have Harley's embroidered a little low. It is just something they can carry things back and forth from grandma's.
I am still loading up programs on my computer but it is running alot smoother.. YEAAAAA!

Totes

I was cleaning up my computer yesterday. Actually re formatting the hard drive. This usually takes me a long time. While I was running the different programs I decided to make the boys their own bags. It seems lately they have been wanting a carry something home with them. I usually just get one of those ugly plastic bags. I thought they should have their own. I had some denim hanging around I knew I could use. These won't take long to sew. Of course the boys love their dinosaurs. Sorry for the blurred picture. I may have to invest in one of those little tri pods.

Table Runner

I made mine table runner for Valentines Day. I used more traditional type fabric. I also made mine longer.
I have some fabric left over; I made my neighbor one without the hearts at the ends. Her new kitchen is red. Made it alittle different.

Valentine

Timmi wanted a valentine runner for her home. She has this counter seperating her family room and kitchen. She puts up little decorations each holiday for the boys. She picked out the fabric. She likes alot of browns and very neutral colors. When she saw this brown valentine print she went right for it. I would rather traditional valentine fabric , BUT!!!!!
This isn't one of my favorite pieces, as long as she likes it, that is what matters. I will take another picture when she sets it up at her home.

Please visit my Friend's blog from Israel... I posted in under blog I read.. http://ruthiesplace.blogspot.com/

Chicken Doorstop

Years ago, back in the early 70's my mother in law gave me this chicken door stop. I always remember having it by the front door and always remember her having one and my sister in law as well. Living up in the northeast we always had our doors open in the Spring, Summer and part of Autumn.
Thru all our moves from Pittsburgh, to Atlanta and a few places here in Texas the chicken doorstop has always come along. It has been thru alot with my kids, grand kids and dogs. It sits in a corner here in my family room near the back door. Most of the time it goes un noticed. Once in awhile my grandsons sit on it and pretend they are riding the chicken. Down here in Texas very seldom are my doors open. I look at that thing and wonder; why do I still have it? It is old, torn and it never did match any of my interior. It is just one of those things that you keep. When all of a sudden you begin to remember the things of the past. Things like this reminds me of when life was clean, simple and easy. When doors were open and neighbors came in for a cup of tea and a chat. When people had time of one another. When things weren't always "locked up".
Remember when you hung out your clothes on the line to dry your back yard, your sheets smelling so fresh and clean. I could go on and on.
I usually don't get the Quilt Almanac Magazine but I seen the current issue at the store I picked it up. Last evening reading thru it I saw this article "Memories from the Past" on page 10-11, and there it was; the chicken doorstop. It made me smile. Now I am on a mission to find the pattern.
Here is my old torn chicken doorstop on the magazine page. Just look at that fabric.

Grandkids

Tim and I had the boys spend the night here on Friday. It was really great having them again. But it also showed me I am not ready yet to keep the boys alone. They can really keep you going.
It has been a long time since they spent the night before Christmas maybe even Thanksgiving.
Dylan loves playing with his dinosaurs . Harley goes from one thing to another.
Both were playing in their tents which are now called "space ships". Harley is also in the process of getting potty trained. hahahaha some days he is doing very good, some day, well lets just say this is just the beginning. That is the reason he doesn't have long pants.
Today we are going over to Timmi and Dylan's to watch the Steelers.

Change

Who does well with change? I sure don't. I admit it. I don't like to change. I like to know what I am going to do, I usually have things planned. I like things to stay the same. I am a creature of habit.
I did not like Walmart changing their stores all around. I still don't know where things are in the store. Why couldn't they leave well enough alone? They are phasing out the fabric department in all the stores. Again not to my liking.
NOW
A long time neighbor is moving. That is making me sad. We have been friends for many years. I watched her children grow up to adults. We used to pet sit each others pets when we were out of town. She lived right across the street. I could see her home from my kitchen window. I would walk across any time I felt I wanted to chat. Her grandson plays with my grandsons. Now she is moving. Not too far; but she won't be across the street. No more "hey what are you doing come on over for a glass of wine or cup of tea". No more come over and see what I just bought or made, or just walking over just to say hi. Change, change, change; I am beginning to really dislike that word.

Luxembourg

It is always fun to receive a box in the mail. And this one was filled with goodies.
Last month I won this giveaway from "Luxquilt" one of the blogs I read. Fernande sent me these items she made; pincushions, key rings, rolls and lots of chocolate, yummy. Wait til the boys see candy from Luxembourg. Knowing Dylan he will want to start planning his trip.
Also she sent along postcards from her hometown; what a great idea. Thanks Fernande. I will put all the items to good use. I already put some thread and needles in the purple roll.
