I just finished a valentine doily. I am pleased. I found the pattern free on line at www.crochetdoilies.com. It is called Valentine Ring of Hearts. Some pics are coming out pink but I used Victory Red Aunt Lydia's classic crochet thread size 10 and a steel size 7 needle

Your doily is great. What a lovely pattern.
O Susan - how beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! When I was a little girl -my wonderful neighbor was going to teach me how to crochet & she made all of her own doilies . Mama got me red thread and a little steel hook. I watched my neighbor and she was so wonderful & I wanted to be just like her. I learned that sc stitch & got the going round and round part. I concentrated SO VERY hard as I moved in the circular motion . Thinking I was almost finished I laid it down to take a look at my magnificent project. As soon as I removed my hands from it -it literally JUMPED up from a doilie into a small teacup. My stitches had been soooooo tight that it had transformed it! LOL I loved her so much & even though I did not learn at that time - I can crochet now & think of her.
Wonder who taught you? :-)
Lovely doilies Susan. I love the little hearts in the pattern. Perfect for Valentine's Day. I haven't made doilies in over 20 years, but I'm still using both of them in my home. I guess they were a really good investment of my time. lol
I totally agree with you about always loving a quilt after it has been quilted. I especially love how the seams marry up after washing it the first time, shrinking it and making it look like one big piece of fabric. That's my favorite moment in quilt making. 8)
Happy stitching,
